ENCOUNTER WITH THE UNKNOWN - Ep. 10 - Ghosts On The Big Brown Couch
As a very long evening at the Four Shadow Theater continues, the Ghosts are now captives of an old nemesis, and friend Johnny is unconscious outside (which is not particularly helpful). While the ladies look for a way out of their increasingly-dire predicament, they still manage to find time to watch a bad movie... because, you know, that's what they do.
1972's ENCOUNTER WITH THE UNKNOWN, if not good, is at least unique. A tiny-budget three-part anthology of true... well, "true" tales of the paranormal, this stinky piece of cheese STILL managed to procure the narratorial services of Rod "Twilight Zone" Serling himself. Granted, Rod does about five minutes work, tops, with some other no-name actually doing most of the heavy lifting. Just as well, though, because as Serling's resume goes, this falls right at the bottom, somehow winding up being even more embarrassing than the beer commercials he once got talked into.
As the Ghosts take in, or put up with, this cinematic oddity, they remain under the watchful (if not helpful) gaze of "The Proprietor", a mysterious being who may hold the key to their survival... or who may simply be leading them to the next step of their afterlife.
CINEMA INSOMNIA's Mr. Lobo once again lends his considerable talents as a special guest star in this, the epic finale of a special GOTBBC three-parter. This biggie also brings back many past guests from the Ghosts' decade-long run. Take our word for it when we say this is an episode NOT to be missed. And if you do miss it, don't tell us, because it would hurt our delicate little feelings.
